Care & Handling

Every Helmut Newton silver-gelatin print is a handcrafted photographic work produced using traditional darkroom methods. Proper care and handling are essential to preserve its archival integrity.

Unpacking
Carefully open the Airfloat Systems shipping box and remove internal supports slowly. Avoid touching the print surface or paper edges directly. Always handle using clean, lint-free cotton gloves.

Condition Verification
Upon receipt, inspect the artwork immediately under soft light. Report any shipping damage within 48 hours so insurance coverage can be activated. Do not discard the packaging until inspection is complete.

Framing
Prints should be mounted and framed by a professional familiar with fine art photography. Use archival, acid-free materials and UV-protective glazing. Avoid heat mounting, lamination, or spray adhesives.

Display Environment
Maintain a stable temperature and humidity level (ideally 68–72°F, 45–55% RH). Avoid direct sunlight, fluorescent lighting, or environments prone to moisture or airborne pollutants.

Long-Term Storage
Store unframed works flat in acid-free archival boxes or folders. Use interleaving paper to prevent emulsion contact. Never roll or fold the print.

Care Assurance
